Altus Power America, Inc.  recently interconnected its 750 kW ground-mounted solar PV system located in Newington, GA.  The electricity generated by the system will be provided directly to the Georgia Power utility infrastructure through the Advanced Solar Initiative. The 20-year contract will contribute to Georgia Power’s innovative solar program designed to spur renewable and economic growth within the Georgia solar community.

Altus Power funded, and will own and operate the Screven County system, which is designed to be 750 kW in size and is expected to produce approximately 1,125,000 kWh per year.  Development of the system commenced in September 2014 and construction began in January 2016.  The system was interconnected in March 2016.  The Newington solar system is one of the first solar PV systems Altus Power has developed in the southeast region of the United States.

The solar photovoltaic system adds an interesting layer to Altus Power America’s growing solar portfolio.  Dustin Weber, Vice President of Altus Power America, said, “We are pleased to provide more clean energy to Georgia Power through the Advanced Solar Initiative.  The town of Newington in Screven County will be a great long-term partner on this solar project.”  Altus Power has other large solar PV projects across the country throughout the Northeast and California.
