New Delhi : Amplus Solar, Asia’s leading distributed energy company, has signed an agreement with JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd, the leader in India’s cement industry, to supply solar power for its cement facility in Durg, Chhattisgarh. Through this initiative, JK Lakshmi Cement will be able to replace 92 million units with green electricity that will help reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 88,352 metric tonnes, in the first year itself.

Amplus Solar has constantly been striving to help corporates achieve their clean energy goals by providing customised solutions including on-site and off-site solar plants. With this plant, Amplus Solar will consolidate its position as a market leader in Chhattisgarh, with a total open access capacity of 118 MWp in the state.

Sharing further details, Mr. Arun Shukla, President & Director, JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd added, “As a responsible corporate, we have taken multiple steps to reduce both direct and indirect carbon emissions. Last month, for the first time in India, we deployed LNG trucks to transport raw material. With this switch to solar energy at our Durg plant, nearly 80% of the energy requirements of the plant will be met through renewable sources.”
