Bengaluru: Bescom is working on a mobile app, which can help electric vehicle (EV) owners to locate their nearest charging stations, said officials.
They pointed out that it is likely to be ready before the inauguration of city’s 12 EV charging stations in June.

The app will also help sort charging stations according to the distance, types of charging and book slots online for charging, added Bescom (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd) officials.

Bescom is also developing a central management system software based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology to remotely monitor the utilisation and availability of EV charging stations across the city, said officials.

“There are currently 300 charging stations across Bengaluru and 112 additional EV charging stations are expected to come up in the city. With the number of EV charging stations growing, our IT team is working on developing a software for better management. With the setting up of a central management system at the Bescom office and using IoT-enabled equipment, we will be able to remotely monitor the utilisation and quality of the charging stations,” said CK Sreenath, deputy general manager (smart grid and electric vehicle), Bescom.

“Through the mobile app, the users can see the tariff per 30 minutes or hour, filter according to the type of charging stations — fast or slow, and also sort the available charging stations according to distance,” said CK Sreenath, deputy general manager (smart grid and electric vehicle), Bescom.
