BNEF: Siemens Gamesa and Suzlon held 49% of wind turbine supplier market share in India in 2019

India added 2.4GW of new wind capacity in 2019 – marginally above its 2018 installations of 2.3GW. The top two turbine makers, Siemens Gamesa and Suzlon grabbed 49% of Indian market share in 2019, according to new findings by BloombergNEF (BNEF). In terms of geographical split Gujarat saw the highest installations, at 1.4GW, accounting for 59% of all additions in 2019, followed by Tamil Nadu with 28%. In 2020, new wind capacity additions are expected to reach 2.6GW, with transmission connectivity and land acquisition issues continuing to pose challenges for wind project developers and manufacturers.
