Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said during her Budget speech that the Centre is looking at giving a big push to e-vehicles.

in her maiden speech, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave a big push to electronic vehicles as a means to reduce carbon emissions and air pollution.

Sitharaman said Rs 10,000 crore has been approved on April 1, 2019 to encourage faster adoption of electric vehicles.

Sitharaman said that the Modi government strives to encourage faster adoption of electronic vehicles.

“FAME II scheme aims to encourage faster adoption of electric vehicles by right incentives and charging infrastructure,” said Nirmala Sitharaman during the Budget speech on Friday.

Sitharaman also announced, “A national transport card for universal travel which can used on various modes of transport, including road, railways etc.”

“India’s first indigenous payment ecosystem for transport based on National Common Mobility Card was launched PM in March 2019, enabling people to pay multiple types of transport charges.”

The finance minister also announced that the Union government has approved rail and metro projects for 300 km across the country.

Presenting the the first Budget of the Modi 2.0 government Sitharaman said, 657 km of metro rail network has become operational across country while railway infrastructure will need Rs 50 lakh crore investment till 2030.

Saying that schemes such as Bharat Mala, Sagarmala and UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) are bridging rural urban divide and improving transport infrastructure, she said “public private partnership to be unleased to develop rail infrastructure”.

The finance minister said as the world’s third largest aviation market, time is ripe to enter aircraft financing and leasing from Indian shores.
