CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday announced a slew of programmes for various departments, including Rs 1,800 crore worth transmission upgradation programme for Chennai city, with an installation of new substations and feeders.Making suo motu announcements under Rule 110, the chief minister said the initiative would help install 31 substations and upgradation of 314 high voltage transformers, 33 new 11KV feeders and strengthening of existing feeders. “This is aimed at increasing renewable energy sources and reduce the use of fossil fuel,” Panneerselvam said.The CM also announced a multi-modal logistics park at Ponneri, three SIPCOT industrial estates in Vellore, Tiruvallur and Tiruvannamalai, and 1,000 rolators/walkers for differently abled children.
