CREDA’s solar power plant at Mahanadi Bhawan helps to save Rs 3.50 cr worth electricity

State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) is again in the limelight for installation of solar power plant at Naya Raipur based Mahanadi Bhawan premises resulting in saving 58 lakh units of electricity. The plant was jointly set-up by CREDA and Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA).

A solar power plant of 1MW capacity was installed in the month of October 2012 and the power generated was consumer at Mahanadi Bhawan. Since, the solar plant used to generate an average of 4500 units per day, after local consumption the additional electricity was supplied to the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company. Thus, from the month of installation of the solar power plant, 58 lakh units of electricity generated was supplied to the Transmission Company till June 2016. As a result, around Rs 3.50 crore worth electricity was saved.
