According to the NPP report of Central Sector Utility performance for the month of January 2022, DVC’s Chandrapura Thermal Power Station stood at second position and Koderma Thermal Power Station at 6th position.

New Delhi: The two Thermal Power Stations of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), an Indian governmental organization have ranked amongst the top 10 Central Sector Utilities in terms of Plant Load Factor for the month of January 2022.

Chandrapura Thermal Power Station is a thermal power plant located in Chandrapura Town, Jharkhand. The power plant is operated by the Damodar Valley Corporation Central Government Owned by Jharkhand Government And West Bengal Government. It has two units with a total installed capacity of 500 MW (2×250 MW); both burn pulverised coal. Chandrapura Thermal Power Station has an installed capacity of 630 MW. The plant has 3 units under operation.

Koderma Thermal Power Station is a coal-based thermal power plant located in Banjhedih, Jainagar CD block, Koderma district in Jharkhand. The power plant is operated by the Damodar Valley Corporation. It has an installed capacity of 1000 Mega Watts.

About Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC)

Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is an Indian governmental organization that operates in the Damodar River area of West Bengal and Jharkhand states of India. The corporation operates both thermal power stations and hydel power stations under the Ministry of Power, Govt of India. DVC is headquartered in the Kolkata city of West Bengal, India.

The company was formed with the central government and the governments of Bihar (later Jharkhand) and West Bengal participating in it. The main aims of the corporation were flood control, irrigation, generation and transmission of electricity, and year-round navigation. DVC developed and expanded its infrastructure to six thermal power stations (6750 MW) and three hydroelectric power stations with a capacity of 147.2 MW which contributes to a total installed capacity of 6897.2 MW. Presently DVC has 49 sub-stations and receiving stations with more than 7280-circuit km of transmission and distribution lines.
