EG collector : 3,940 solar power connections to be sanctioned to farmers

Kakinada :  East Godavari Collector D Muralidhara Reddy on Saturday said that as a part of the energy saving programme, as many as 3,940 solar power connections and 2,973 energy efficient motors free of cost would be given to the farmers in the district.

Addressing a function after flagging off on energy saving week celebrations at the Collectorate here, he further said 25.76 lakh LED bulbs were also being distributed at subsidised price.

He stated electricity saving was very much essential keeping in view the future needs and conservation of natural resources. Pointing out that at present the electricity consumption was going up rapidly with the usage of ACs, Refrigerators and electricity lights both in households and industries, the Collector further stated government had decided to check the power wastage and initiated measures to ensure judicious use.

Electricity SE Satyanarayana Reddy said that energy saving week would be observed till December 20 and sought the cooperation of the people in successful implementation of the programme.

He further said the elocution contest and painting competitions would be conducted to the students on electricity saving and its importance and prizes would be awarded to the winners at each sub division headquarters at the valedictory function on December 20.

Electricity Executive engineers of Kakinada, Rajahmundry, Ramachandrapuram, Amalapuram, Jaggampet were present on the occasion.
