US thin-film photovoltaics (PV) maker First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) has secured orders to deliver up to 2.4 GW DC of its Series 6 modules for a photovoltaic (PV) portfolio owned by Intersect Power LLC.

The overall capacity, bagged in seven separate purchase contracts, includes firm orders for 2 GW of PV modules, plus an option for an additional 400 MW that can be ordered depending on the projects’ final designs. First Solar said on Friday it plans to deliver the equipment in 2022 and 2023.

The modules will be installed as part of seven projects being developed by clean infrastructure company Intersect Power.

The latest deals follow earlier contracts from 2019 through which Intersect Power ordered First Solar Series 6 modules for 1.7 GW DC of schemes in Texas and California. The renewables developer now has a 3.2 GW DC pipeline of late-stage solar and storage projects that will be switched on by 2023.

As of end-2020, First Solar had 6.3 GW DC of manufacturing capacity for its Series 6 modules globally. Apart from factories in Ohio, it also has production sites in Vietnam and Malaysia.
