Germany on Wednesday kicked off two tenders, seeking to allocate 1.1 GW of solar and 274.86 MW of biomass capacity.

The two auctions have a deadline of March 1, 2022, the Federal Network Agency, or Bundesnetzagentur, said on Wednesday.

The solar tender is open to bids for ground-mounted plants of over 751 kW and the offered price must not exceed EUR 0.0557 (USD 0.062) per kWh. The winning proposals will secure contracts under the “pay-as-bid” model.

The Federal Network Agency will select projects for plants on less-favoured arable and grassland areas in the states of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Saxony with capacities in the separate states ranging from 35 MW to nearly 230 MW.

Germany will award a total of 3.6 GW of solar projects of over 751 kW as part of three tenders through 2022.

The biomass tender is capped at EUR 0.1624 per kWh for new installations and EUR 0.1822 for existing plants. The total biomass capacity that will be allocated this year is 600 MW.
