Becomes the first Indian solar manufacturer to introduce micro-gap module technology (MGMT)

Surat, India: Goldi Solar, a global solar panel manufacturer and EPC provider announced its plans to increase its manufacturing capacity to 2.5 GW with a new facility on the outskirts of Surat, Gujarat.

Presently, the existing facility has a capacity of 500 MW and the expansion of 2 GW has been planned in two stages. The first phase is slated to commence by the end of Q2 FY21-22 with a 1 GW commercial production. The second phase of production will start by the end of Q4, FY 21-22.

Goldi Solar’s second facility will also see a new production line introducing a first-of-its-kind micro-gap module technology (MGMT). The new modules will have a gap of less than 0.75 mm as opposed to the standard 1.5 mm between the cells in the string.

This ensures better coverage resulting in improved productivity and higher outputs. The line will feature both mono-facial and bi-facial modules.

Amongst other notable features, the new high-efficiency modules will also have:

  • Mono-facial modules (> 500 Wp)
  • Bi-facial modules (> 600 Wp)
  • M10 wafer size
  • Multi-busbars (MBB)
  • PERC solar cell technology

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Ishver Dholakiya, Founder & Managing Director, Goldi Solar said, “Goldi Solar is proud to have grown from a 10 MW to a multi-gigawatt company in a short span.

We are also thrilled to be the first domestic manufacturing company in India to introduce the micro-gap module technology. This year also marks ten years of renewed life.

I would like to thank our customers and business partners for the trust and belief in Goldi Solar and help make it India’s most quality conscious solar brand.”

Mr. Bharat Bhut, Co-founder & Director, Goldi Solar said, “Goldi Solar has been synonymous with quality modules since its inception. We have aggressive plans for Goldi’s growth and are looking to expand our manufacturing capacity to 5 GW.

The facility expansion comes amid growing global demand for better technology and value from the solar panels. We also hope to penetrate newer markets with even higher quality modules, as well as meet the current and future needs of Goldi Solar’s customers.”

Goldi Solar also has plans for backward integration through setting up of multi-gigawatt solar cell manufacturing line, and supporting the ecosystem through manufacturing of raw material used in solar modules.
