GSE Launches Decarbonizing Cloud Fleet and Solar Rooftop Technical Warehouses – EQ Mag

Goldsun Express & Logistics (GSE), in order to respond to Earth Day, has been installing PV equipment on the rooftops of its logistics warehouses since 2021. According to statistics, GSE generated 644,778kWh of power and reduced 341,088kg of carbon in 2021, then proceeded to generating 796,316kWh of power and reducing 422,251kg of carbon in 2022, with a growth of 23% in both power generation and decarbonization.

In terms of logistics warehousing, GSE has established a medical storage at 0.858 hectares in the Pingzhen Logistics Park of Taoyuan that has 24/7 temperature control, a quality management system, and comes with a PV rooftop plant under a parallel pilot run, which reduced 857,292kg of carbon over the past three years that is equivalent to 810K trees in a year.

As for the decarbonizing cloud fleet, GSE integrates multiple innovative technology, which earned a patented certification, and not only improves operating efficiency and precision of the fleet, but also effectively lowers carbon emission, thus laying down a demonstration in approaching the sustainability target for the fleet.

Kuo Chia-ming, Chairman of GSE, commented that nearly 300 vehicles can be dispatched through the fleet alliance, and about 4 handwritten orders are used at each checkpoint in accordance with the needs of construction material suppliers. In order to coincide with material transportation plans, vehicles will repeat between idle speed and reactivation along stops on the way, and would only acquire information such as material specifications and routes after receiving orders from personnel.

As pointed out by Kuo, the decarbonizing cloud fleet, after stocktaking the transportation process, first incorporated the cloud platform in order to dedicate to a paperless society. The system includes a dispatch platform that contains requirements of each plant, where drivers, after entering the dispatch center, would be assigned with delivery missions after their identities are confirmed by the license plate recognition system.

Kuo explained that the system would then generate a one-of-a-kind QR code containing delivery information, and simultaneously displays the route of the vehicle within plants on the instantaneous information panel, where drivers would precisely complete material loading when they scan the mission QR code after driving at the designated path. The mission QR code becomes invalid after the driver exits the plant to ensure safety during entry and departure, as well as lower errors that could occur during delivery missions.

GSE’s statistics show that about 1,219kg of paper can be conserved each year after eliminating the handwritten order process based on 80 vehicles of the fleet, which is equivalent to a reduction of 29 trees. The integrated system also assimilates lists of material transportation for each delivery onto the cloud platform in order to accelerate the process of material loading for vehicles, effectively reduce possible errors when entering and dispatching handwritten orders, as well as improve precision and efficiency of the fleet operation.

Kuo interprets that the incorporation of the decarbonizing fleet solution can reduce more than 200K times of idle speed for the GSE fleet each year, and lower 227,600kg of carbon emission, which equals to creating 18,667 trees. According to estimation, the reduced frequency of idle speed has also significantly conserved oil consumption at about NT$1.91 million each year.
