Over the weekend, Honda unveiled its new 2023 SUV lineup, which includes the fully electric e: Ny1, ZR-V hybrid, and the old favorite CR-V with a twist. The e: Ny1, in particular, has garnered some attention because it’s Honda’s second all-electric vehicle.

Honda released the e-City vehicle in Europe first. It gained wide acclaim and support from the European market, which has a growing demand for electrified B-segment SUVs. The Honda e: Ny1 will also be sold in Europe.

The Japanese automaker built the e: Ny1 on its new e: N Architecture F, a front-moto-driven platform. Honda’s newly-developed platform focuses on high rigidity body structure, low center of gravity, and carefully managed under-floor aerodynamics.

The new all-electric Honda SUV also featured a three-in-one integrated power drive unit, electric motor, and gearbox. It generates a maximum output of 150 kW and 310 Nm of torque. The Honda e: Ny1 has a lithium-ion battery with a WLTP range estimate of up to 412 km (256 miles). It features DC fast-charging capability that can charge the battery pack from 10% to 80% in 45 minutes.

“The e: Ny1 is the logical next step on our electrification journey in Europe,” said Tom Gardner, Senior Vice President at Honda Motor Europe Ltd. “Our development philosophy blends intelligent, customer-centric technology with beautiful design and fun-to-drive dynamics. This latest SUV exemplifies Honda’s commitment to electrification and is the latest step on Honda’s electrification journey.”

According to Honda, the e: Ny1 is a fun, family car. Honda’s electrified e: Ny1 is a five-seater ideal for a family.

The Japanese automaker also claims that the Honda e: Ny1 has a good battery range, resulting in owners needing only the occasional home charge.
