Saurya Urja Company of Rajasthan Limited received the ‘Best Solar Park Developer of the Year 2021’ on May 26 at EQ E-Award Show. Powered by EQ iSearch, EQ organized India Solar Awards 2020-21 for the solar industry of India for the achievements of the year 2020-21.

Bibhu Biswal, Senior Vice President, Solar parks & Distribution at IL&FS Energy Development Company Limited accepted the award. He expressed his gratitude for the award.

“This company is a Joint Venture between the Government of Rajasthan and IL&FS Energy, started in 2015, for development of 5000 MW of solar power in the state of Rajasthan. We developed our first solar park of 1000 MW at Bhadla, Rajasthan.

The special features of the park are that it was developed in two phases of 500 MW each. One 500 MW power is purchased by Rajasthan and the other 500 MW is purchased by Uttar Pradesh. This is the one project that is supplying power to the state as well as interstate buyers.

I feel proud to share that this is the only project of that large capacity that is currently operating at a sub 250 tariff. We have seen tariffs lower than this but they are yet to come into operation.

Our two projects are at Rs 2.44 and Rs 2.47, which is the lowest supplied to any state. Apart from solar projects, Saurya Urja has done a lot of activities in local area development and CSR in the sectors like health, education and water system.

We also have a fire tender that is helping the projects nearby. We run a mobile science laboratory for nearby schools and two mobile medical units for nearby villages. We run some learning centres where people can opt for open learning.”

Bibhu Biswal informed that the Saurya Urja is going to develop the second 1000MW part at Bikaner, and the Government of Rajasthan has already approved it. We are awaiting approval from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for the same.
