In Short : H.G. Infra Engineering has received a Letter of Intent from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd for a 300 MW/600 MWh standalone battery energy storage project in Gujarat. Expected to commission by October 2025, the project will cost around ₹670 crore and run for 12 years. This marks H.G. Infra’s expansion into large-scale renewable energy storage, supporting Gujarat’s grid stability.

In Detail : Indian construction firm HG Infra Engineering Limited (HGINFRA) has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) to develop a 300-MW/600-MWh battery as part of a larger energy storage project in the state of Gujarat.

The LOI was signed with state utility Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL), the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services provider said on Friday.

The project was awarded to HGINFRA after its success in GUVNL’s Phase VI tender for 500 MW/1,000 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) last October, conducted under a tariff-based competitive bidding. The EPC firm will have 24 months to complete the project, which is estimated to require an investment of around INR 6.7 billion (USD 78.4m/EUR 68.7m). In addition to building the BESS, it will also have to set up its connection with the state transmission network.

Late last year, HGINFRA emerged among the winners in GUVNL’s Phase IV auction, securing a contract for a 250-MW/500-MWh battery project supported by the country’s Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme.
