In Short : Waaree Group has launched a 300 MW electrolyser manufacturing plant in Gujarat, supporting India’s green hydrogen mission. The facility will produce high-efficiency electrolysers for large-scale green hydrogen production, aiding sectors like steel, refining, and power generation. The company’s investments in renewable energy, including a lithium-ion battery cell plant, position India as a key player in the global hydrogen economy.

In Detail : Waaree Group, recognized as India’s leading manufacturer of solar PV modules, has celebrated the ground breaking of its new Electrolyser Manufacturing Facility in Valsad, Gujarat. The inauguration ceremony on February 10th marks a pivotal moment for India’s green hydrogen initiatives. The facility is set to commence operations with an initial capacity of 300 MW in its first phase, positioning itself as a key player in supporting the country’s green hydrogen sector.

The establishment of this advanced Alkaline Electrolyser manufacturing plant is part of Waaree’s strategic expansion to bolster India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission. It aims to supply electrolyzers to major industries including steel, refining, transportation, fertilizers, chemicals, food, and power generation. These sectors are anticipated to benefit from greener processes and reduced carbon emissions as a result of adopting domestically produced electrolyzers, thereby lessening India’s reliance on imported technologies and reinforcing its status as a global center for green hydrogen, green ammonia, and other e-fuels.

Anuj Sharma, CEO of Waaree Clean Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd., emphasized the strategic importance of the new facility in making India self-sufficient in green hydrogen production technologies. He highlighted the company’s commitment to propelling the nation’s clean energy revolution, which includes creating jobs and contributing to a sustainable future.

The facility is outfitted with state-of-the-art technology and manufacturing processes to produce high-efficiency, durable, and reliable electrolyzers. These are designed for large-scale green hydrogen production with reduced power consumption, operational flexibility, high performance, and minimal maintenance needs. The plant will also feature automated assembly lines for electrolyzer stacks to ensure precision and scalability.

Waaree has recently secured a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) for a 300 MW electrolyzer manufacturing capacity and 90,000 metric tons per annum of green hydrogen production under the Government of India’s SIGHT (Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition) scheme. This backing is a testament to Waaree’s pivotal role in strengthening India’s hydrogen supply chain.

With this development, Waaree is poised to enhance India’s leadership in clean energy and green hydrogen. The investment in electrolyzer manufacturing is designed to boost domestic production capabilities, diminish reliance on imports, and facilitate industries in their transition to sustainable energy solutions, further solidifying India’s position in the global green hydrogen market.
