Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has continuously promoted clean energy, environmental protection, and the vision of a self-reliant India. Following this national vision, and under the guidance of Honorable Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Indore Municipal Corporation has set up a 60 MW solar power plant on 220 acres of land at Jalud. This project is not just an energy project, but a big step towards making Indore green, self-reliant, and environment-friendly.

This important project has been developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II, Tranche-II of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Solar Energy Corporation of India. Its foundation stone was laid by the Honorable Prime Minister on 24 December 2023. The total cost of the project is ₹271.16 crore. The construction work started on 18 july 2024 by Rays Power Infra Limited, which also includes 10 years of operation and maintenance.

This project is also unique financially, as it is funded through green bonds. It has also received support under VGF funding Rs 42 cr. from the MNRE/ SECI Government of India. The project uses DCR category solar PV modules made in India. So, it is a strong example of Make in India, green energy, and innovative financing.

With high quality, technical efficiency, and timely execution, this 60 MW solar power plant was successfully commissioned on 3 March 2026. It will generate about 80 lakh units above of electricity every month, Last month, we were able to save ₹3.64 crore in electricity bills at the Jalud pumping station. Now, going forward, the savings will be approximately ₹4.20 crore every month.

This will help Indore Municipal Corporation save around ₹3 to ₹4 crore every month on electricity bills. The project cost can be recovered in about 9 years.

This solar project is also very important for the environment. It will generate around 86,000 carbon credits every year, helping reduce carbon emissions. This impact is equal to about 40 lakh trees. It is a major step towards environmental protection, green development, and climate balance. Through green bond funding, this project supports both clean energy and carbon reduction.

For Indore Municipal Corporation, this project is very important because a large amount of energy is needed for water supply, pumping systems, and other city services. Solar power will reduce dependence on traditional energy sources, lower costs, and improve city services.

This project has been successfully completed with support from the Government of Madhya Pradesh and organizations like MPPKVVCL, MPPTCL, SLDC, MPPMCL, and CEIG. This is not just a solar project, but a bright beginning of a green future that will take Indore to new heights of development, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
