Israel has launched a tender for PV3, a solar energy project with 100 MW capacity

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in Israel has invited applications from interested developers to construct a 100 MW solar power plant near Ashalim where more than 300 MW clean energy capacity is already operational in the form of 2 PV and 2 concentrated solar thermal (CSP) facilities.
The PV3 project tendered will be built on a public-private partnership basis and connected to the local grid. Broad scope of work for the winner will be to finance, construct and operate the 100 MW solar project for a period of 25 years. It is scheduled to become operational in Q1/2027.
The Chairman of the Electricity Authority, Amir Shavit said this facility is an important landmark in promoting the production of renewable electricity. He added, “We are happy to see the interest of the local and international market players in this tender.”
According to the government, this 100 MW project will help meet the country’s target to have renewable energy account for 30% of the national electricity production by 2030, comprising 17.145 GW solar capacity.
Announced on September 14, 2023, the government has not specified any deadline for submissions for this tender call.
In May 2023, the government tendered 28,000 acres of land in the Negev Desert for solar energy installations, saying more will follow.
