Sharp Energy Solutions Corporation (SESJ), part of Sharp Corp (TYO:6753), announced today it will install a 4.99-MW direct current (DC) rooftop solar power array in Thailand.

The photovoltaic (PV) system will be built on top of a passenger vehicle tire plant in Nakhon Pathom province that is owned by Thai tire manufacturer Deestone Group.

SESJ is in charge of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services. With completion expected at the end of March 2022, the solar park should be capable of generating 7,293 MWh of electricity per year, enough to offset the equivalent of 2,326 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Deestone Group also plans to install other solar systems at its manufacturing bases in Thailand, according to the press release.
