JSW Energy unit bags 600 MW wind-solar hybrid project in Maharashtra – EQ
In Short : JSW Neo Energy, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has been awarded a 600 MW wind-solar hybrid power project by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). This project is part of MSEDCL’s Phase IV initiative and includes 400 MW through a green shoe option. With this new project, JSW Energy’s total locked-in generation capacity has risen to 18.2 GW, furthering its renewable energy expansion. The company aims to reach a generation capacity of 10 GW by FY25 and 20 GW by 2030, while also targeting carbon neutrality by 2050.
In Detail : JSW Neo Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has received letter of award for 600 megawatts (MW) of Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Project from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
In a regulatory filing, JSW Energy said the award includes 400 MW allotted under green shoe option from MSEDCL against MSEDCL – Phase IV.
Following this capacity award, JSW Energy’s total locked-in generation capacity has increased to 18.2 gigawatts (GW), including 3.8 GW of hybrid capacity. By the end of fiscal year 2025, the company expects to have an installed generation capacity of 10 GW, up from the current 7.5 GW.
JSW Energy’s total locked-in generation capacity is composed of 7.5 GW currently operating, 2.3 GW under construction across wind, thermal, hydro, and renewable energy pipelines, and 8.3 GW of renewable energy pipeline. The company also has 4.2 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of locked-in energy storage capacity through battery energy storage systems and hydro pumped storage projects.
The company aims to increase its generation capacity to 20 GW and its energy storage capacity to 40 GWh by 2030. It has also set a goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
