Jyothishmati Engineering College gets solar power

Karimnagar: District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed inaugurated 190 kilo Watt rooftop solar power plant at Jyothishmati Engineering College here in Karimnagar on Friday.

Addressing a programme organised on the occasion, the Collector said that it is everyone’s responsibility to hand over green world to the coming up generations by minimizing the use of fossil fuels.

By using the natural non-renewable resources like coal, petrol and natural gas including uranium, they are getting depleted day-by-day. Moreover, the usage of such fossil fuels releases a large amount of carbon dioxide and carbon-monoxide gases which are responsible for global warming and they cause pollution.

He appreciated the management of the college for taking steps in protection of environment by installing the solar power plant to reduce pollution.
The budding engineering students must understand the nature and society and utilise their studies for the betterment of society. By selecting the good path, the students must reach greater positions in their life.

The Superintending Engineer of TSNPDCL, K Madhava Rao speaking on the occasion said that the Telangana government strived hard for giving quality and standard electricity to the people. The solar power plant that was installed in the college will minimize the use of 178 tons of coal producing 2.85 lakhs units of solar power reducing the 78 percent grid supply and is eco-friendly.

Chairman of the college Juvvadi Sagar Rao, secretary Sumith Sai, SI Naresh Reddy, MRO Rajani, Solar India Private Limited director Naveen C Pulijala, college dean SVS Rama Krishna Raju, principal Dr. G Laxminarayana Rao and DR. P K Vaishali among others were present.
