Kom Ombo, Egypt’s largest solar power plant, received millions in fresh funds to add 200 MW of energy capacity in the country.

Egypt’s largest private solar power plant, Kom Ombo, has secured a USD114 million financing package from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the OPEC Fund for International Development, the African Development Bank, the Green Climate Fund and the Arab Bank.

Not to be confused with Benban Solar Park, which happens to be Egypt’s largest solar park overall, the Kom Ombo Solar Park is going to add 200 MW of energy capacity in the country, further diversifying the energy mix in Egypt and promoting private-sector participation in renewable energy fields.
