In Short : The grant not only demonstrates confidence in Lhyfe’s capabilities but also highlights the importance of investing in renewable energy solutions. The establishment of a green hydrogen plant in Spain will not only contribute to reducing carbon emissions but also drive innovation and create job opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

In Detail : Lhyfe, a leading company in renewable green hydrogen production, has unveiled plans for the development of a green hydrogen plant in Spain. The project, backed by a substantial grant of up to €14 million from H2 Pioneros, marks a significant stride towards sustainable energy solutions in the region.

Set to become Lhyfe’s inaugural green hydrogen production site in Spain, the facility boasts a formidable daily production capacity of up to 5 tons. Amidst the company’s ongoing construction endeavors across seven sites in Europe, this venture underscores Lhyfe’s commitment to spearheading renewable hydrogen initiatives globally.

Located in Vallmoll, Tarragona, the strategically positioned plant aims to cater to the burgeoning demand for green hydrogen among various industrial entities in the vicinity. Target clients encompass a spectrum of industries, ranging from chemical manufacturers seeking to transition away from fossil fuels to transportation and logistics companies eyeing eco-friendly alternatives like hydrogen-powered vehicles.

“This grant is a testament to our dedication and expertise in delivering green hydrogen solutions to diverse clientele over the past years,” expressed Taia Kronborg, Chief Business Officer at Lhyfe. “It reinforces our alignment with Spain’s hydrogen strategy, accelerating the establishment of a renewable energy-based hydrogen infrastructure.”

The grant, constituting roughly half of the total projected investment in the project, will fund crucial phases encompassing design, equipment procurement, and construction. Anticipated to commence production by 2026, the plant is poised to play a pivotal role in providing competitive green hydrogen to support the province of Tarragona’s industrial and transportation sectors.

Lhyfe’s visionary initiative stands as one of the selected 14 projects in Spain granted financing by H2 Pioneros among a competitive pool of 81 submissions. With a workforce of about 200 professionals dedicated exclusively to renewable hydrogen production, Lhyfe operates across 11 countries and boasts a robust pipeline exceeding 10 GW in Europe.
