Lightsource bp sells 300MW solar portfolio in UK to Sonnedix – EQ Mag
The projects will increase Sonnedix’s total capacity in the UK to 500MWp.
UK-based solar energy firm LightSource bp has sold five utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the UK, with a total capacity of 300MW, to renewable energy producer Sonnedix .
The projects are located across various regions in the UK and expected to become operational by 2024.
During its first year of operations, the solar portfolio is expected to generate around 300GWh of clean energy, displacing more than 57,000t of carbon emissions a year.
The financial terms of the sale have not been disclosed.
Lightsource bp EMEA and APAC CEO Kareen Boutonnat said: “Solar projects are crucial for a secure, low-cost and lower carbon energy system.
“One of our key strengths at Lightsource bp is as an enabler of the energy transition by deploying our solar development experience and capability to support growing portfolios of renewables across the world.
“The sale of these assets to Sonnedix demonstrates our strong credentials as a trusted development partner, and transactions like this will catalyse the rapid deployment of renewables as businesses work in partnership to create a more sustainable energy future.”
The deal will increase Sonnedix’s capacity in the UK to 500MWp, making the country one of its major markets in Europe.

In October this year, Sonnedix acquired Chilean independent clean power producer Arco for an undisclosed sum.
The company also bought a 117.8MW solar PV portfolio in Italy from Graziella Holding and other minority sellers in August.
