Two bidders have submitted applications to develop up to 700MW site in Baltic Sea

Lithuania’s State Energy Regulatory Council has revealed two bids have been submitted in its first offshore wind tender (without state aid).

The process ran from 31 March to 29 May 2023 and is for a site which will have an installed capacity of between 580MW and 700MW.

If both bidders meet the requirements for the round, the tendering phase for the development fee for the offshore wind projects will be carried out. Following this, the winner will be announced soon after in September 2023.

Lithuania is preparing to build two wind farms in the Baltic Sea, each with a capacity of 700MW and the second tender is scheduled to be launched in autumn of this year.

Both sites would provide about half of the country’s current electricity demand and reduce its dependence on electricity imports.
