DALLAS: One of Texas’ premier general contracting firms, Scott + Reid General Contractors (www.scottandreid.com), has announced that their new headquarters building, currently under construction in Addison at 15207 Addison Road, will run on environmentally friendly solar power with a custom-designed solar array from Dallas-based Sunfinity Renewable Energy (www.sunfinityre.com). The 319-panel system will be installed by Sunfinity later in 2019 as Scott + Reid finalizes renovation and building addition at their new space.

“Scott + Reid is devoted to minimizing our impact on the environment by promoting responsible practices and building sustainably,” said president Brad Reid. “We do this for our clients – we are recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council, and many of our managers have achieved LEED professional accreditation. We also retain a full-time LEED consultant. We want to lead by example, and solar is clean, renewable energy – that also happens to deliver great economic value.”

“When a commercial construction leader like Scott + Reid makes this type of commitment to solar, it just underscores that solar is now mainstream,” said John Billingsley, Chairman and CEO of Sunfinity. “Like other businesses, they recognize the attractiveness of this smart financial decision combined with the environmental benefits.”

The solar array is projected to save the business almost $500,000 in electric bills over the system’s life. For the community, the solar array will save toxic emissions equivalent to 7.8 million miles of passenger vehicle traffic, 3.5 million pounds of coal burned or equivalent to carbon sequestered by 3,788 acres of forest.

“Scott + Reid also was able to take advantage of a 30% federal tax credit and available federal depreciation incentives that could save more than 55% on the cost of the system,” said Billingsley.

Sunfinity Renewable Energy has helped varied businesses and non-profits harness the potential of clean solar energy to power their businesses and improve the bottom line. Recent projects include a 454-panel array for GoodWork co-working, which renovated a 60,000 square-foot abandoned downtown warehouse into a building pursuing LEED Gold and WELL Building™ Certifications; 464 panels for Cistercian Preparatory School; 588 panels on four buildings for the headquarters offices of LBJ Infrastructure Group and NTE Mobility Partners and 588 panels for Lakeside Chevrolet.  An extensive installation of car canopies topped with solar panels is in the works for El Dorado Chevrolet/Mazda of McKinney, which will save the company millions of dollars in utilities and insurance premiums.

“Sunfinity has assembled a team of renewable energy experts with decades of experience,” said Reid. “They’re the type of partner that we prefer to work with, and we’re confident they’ll do an outstanding job on this showcase project.”

Scott + Reid purchased the former Sambuca building in Addison, which will give the company 24,000 square feet of office space.  This includes a new two-story structure the company is adding at the front of the existing property. Amenities for the 85+ Dallas employees include a lounge area with game tables and a golf simulator, a full bar and kitchen, an outdoor courtyard and locker rooms with showers.
