Priority Power Management, LLC (“PPM”), a Texas-based leading independent energy management and consulting services firm, has successfully negotiated and secured a new 100% renewable electricity supply contract for Abilene Christian University (“ACU”).

In 2009, PPM negotiated a 10-year contract for ACU supported by west Texas renewable wind and fossil fuel resources. The new contract, which will begin at the expiration of the 10-year contract and continue until March 2025, includes Green-e Certified Renewable Energy Credits for 100% of ACU’s contracted usage. ACU will also benefit from having budget certainty by capturing and locking in historically low electricity prices, delivering over $2 million in savings over the contract term.

“In keeping with the mission and principles of our sustainability initiative, ACU Green, we are always looking for ways to be better stewards of our resources,” said Kevin Roberts, associate vice president of operations. “By purchasing 100% renewable energy, we support the continued development of renewable energy resources, while at the same time lowering our long-term cost of electricity.”

PPM has been providing customized strategic energy advisory, supply procurement and risk management services to ACU since 2006.

“We were very pleased with the outcome of this most recent energy supply contract negotiation on behalf of ACU,” said John J. Bick, managing principal of PPM. “While there was still over 3-1/2 years remaining on the existing contract, we saw an opportunity to act now and capture historically low forward energy prices for 100% renewable energy.”
