Railways signs agreement with BHEL for 2 MW rooftop solar power Plant

The Indian Railways Organization for Alternate Fuel (IROAF) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) have signed an agreement for constructing a 2 Megawatt (MW) roof top power plant at a record low cost of Rs 3.58 crore per Megawatt peak (MWp) under Government of India’s Incentive Scheme.

The plant is set to be e commissioned within next 10 months and will be set up at Diesel-Loco Modernisation Works formerly known as Diesel Component Works, Patiala.

This is the first project to be covered under the Achievement Linked Incentive or Award Scheme of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) for government buildings.

The national carrier aims to add 1,000 MW of solar and 200 MW of wind energy out of which 36 MW have already been commissioned.
