The world is looking to increase its reliance on renewable energy considering the perils of climate change due to carbon emissions. The govt has also accorded top priority to develop such resources..and its impact is becoming visible even in far-flung villages. The effort to convert the Sun’s rays to electricity has transformed Rajasthan’s Melavas village in Pali district.

It’s now bathed in the illumination of solar energy

The village which is part of the Marwad Junction Panchayat Samiti has a population below 2,000..It’s total transformation has become an inspiration for surrounding villages to emulate. At nightfall..Melavas’s streets no longer remain engulfed in darkness..160 LED lights running on 36 plates and 20 batteries charged with solar energy light almost all corners.

The village gets bathed in bright light each evening for free.

The villagers credit IRS officer Ghanshayam Soni for this gift.

It was he who made villagers aware of the merits of solar energy.

Apart from road lights..the solar energy generated in the village is also used to power a network of wife enabled CCTV cameras..The twin uses of the Sun’s energy has made life far more easier for villagers than before. The fallow land in the village has also got a new lease of life because of the saving of supplied electricity and the villagers’ hard work. Clearly..taking to solar energy is the need of the hour..The future of the country and indeed the world is dependent on it..
