Japanese renewables developer Shizen Energy Inc and its joint-venture (JV) partner juwi Shizen Energy Inc have started commercial operation of a 23.49-MW solar farm in Yamaguchi prefecture.

Construction of the Iwakuni Yuu Solar Power Plant was finalised as part of a project with Prominet Power Co Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tokyo Gas Co Ltd (TYO:9531), Shizen Energy said.

It is also the third plant under a 2017 Tokyo Gas-Shizen Energy alliance agreement to reach commercial operation.

The project development was led by Shizen Energy, while juwi Shizen Energy was in charge of the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) works.

Operation and maintenance (O&M) of Iwakuni Yuu will be handled by juwi Shizen Energy Operation Inc, the Japanese company said.

juwi Shizen Energy Inc is the JV partnership formed by Shizen Energy and German renewables developer juwi AG in 2013.
