Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) successfully synchronised a 30 MW solar power plant at Manuguru with the grid on Thursday.
SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N SridharManaging Director N Sridhar announced that the government-owned coal company had planned to complete construction of the 129 MW capacity plant under first phase of the 300 MW solar power plant programme soon.
Out of the envisaged phase-I production of 129 MW, the SCCL has so far completed 10 MW of solar power plant at Jaipur, and with the addition of the 30 MW at Manuguru, the total solar power supplied to the grid reached 40 MW. “Within two months, we will be completing 50 MW plant at Ramagundam III area and 30 MW plant at Illandu area. Though there are problems because of Covid-19 and lockdown, we completed the works at the Manuguru plant in time,” the CMD said.
The Manuguru plant was constructed near old Manuguru village in an area of 150 acres at a cost of Rs 125 crore. One lakh solar panels have been arranged in the plant. Director, Electrical and Mechanical S Shankar personally supervised the plant construction works under the supervision of the CMD. Construction was taken up by Bharat heavy electricals limited. The power generated here would be supplied to the local 220 KV substation and a separate substation was constructed to feed it to the grid. The company is likely to earn Rs 11 crore from this station.
Second and Third Phases
Adani group has been given the contract to construct 90 MW power plants in the second phase including Bhupalpally (10MW), Mandamarri Bellampalli (43MW) and Kothagudem (37 MW). Construction of Bhupalpally has already begun. SCCL management has already started exercises for the third phase solar power plant construction.
In this phase, floating solar power plants are planned on reservoirs including open cast quarry reservoirs. Officials informed that tenders for the third phase and contractor would be finalised soon. The management has come forward for the construction of 500 megawatts floating solar power plants on the large water bodies in Telangana state. Manuguru GM J Ramesh, Area engineer Fitzgerald GM (solar power), Engineer consultant Muralitharan, BHEL AGM Banwalkar, DGM Naveen Kumar and TRANSCO Superintendent Engineer Srinivasa Rao participated in this programme at Manuguru.
