Bareilly: Streetlights in Bareilly Development Authority’s residential project, Ramganga Nagar Awasiya Yojana, will soon be powered with solar energy. For this purpose, the BDA is planning to set up a solar panel having a capacity of around 50 KW at the Ramganga Nagar Awasiya Yojana.

Speaking with TOI, development authority secretary SP Singh said, “The installation of the solar panel for illuminating streetlights at Ramganga Nagar Awasiya Yojana is expected to be initiated this year. The estimated cost of setting up the solar panel is around Rs 50 lakh. Besides installation of solar power panels at the awasiya yojana, plans are also afoot to set up a CNG filling pump in the area.”

“For this purpose, the Central Uttar Pradesh Gas Limited (CUGL) had recently conducted a survey of Ramganga Nagar to identify suitable land for setting up of the filling pump. We are currently awaiting a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the departments concerned such as—fire brigade and department of explosives,” Singh added.

According to BDA officials, both schemes — solar-powered streetlights as well as the CNG pump at Ramaganga Nagar Awasiya Yojana —will be initiated in the current fiscal.

The housing scheme at Ramganga Nagar Awasiya Yojana spans around 269 hectares. The yojana’s foundation stone was laid in 2004. Under the scheme, around 40,000 residential flats under HIG, MIG, LIG and EWS category are to be constructed. Around 800 residential flats under economically weaker section (EWS) have so far been allotted to beneficiaries by BDA. Moreover, to make the residential scheme successful, BDA is also planning to develop development authority’s offices and shift its staff there.
