SPM Women College In Delhi Embraces Green with 120 kWP Solar Plant

One of the 50 year old women college of Delhi, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee college associated with Delhi University has taken a step forward to Embrace Green and Empower clean by adopting Solar Energy for its electrical consumption. Power purchase agreement was signed at World bank office in Connaught place on 14th Nov. Project is worked under the subsidy scheme of Delhi Govt run by IPGCL Indraprastha Gas Corporation Ltd).

 

 

Principal Mrs. Sadhna Sharma expressed that College had always a wish to adopt Solar Energy and it feels good to take this kind of initiative particularly when environment around us needs such sustainable measures. Delhi needs such initiatives in huge numbers.

Pawan Shah, Manager at IPGCL said that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College is the first college under the new scheme of 35MW for the govt buildings. We hope more colleges would join to embrace green.

 

 

J. P. Singh , from J.P. Consultants, Solar Consultant for the project said that this Project would generate more than 35% of power requirements of the college. He further added that Solar power plant project will reduce 3600 metric tons of Carbon emission over 25 years thus making the planet more green. Annual savings in power bills will be more than Rs. 9,00,000.. The carbon reduction impact of the project during its life time is equivalent to planting of 8400 Trees which will add to conservation of energy and environment.
