In Detail : TANFAC Industries has achieved a major milestone by commissioning India’s first solar-grade DHF (Dehydrofluorination) plant with a capacity of 5,000 tonnes per annum. The plant has received validation from a leading solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company, marking a breakthrough in domestic production of critical materials for the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry.

This development significantly reduces India’s reliance on imports for solar-grade chemicals, particularly DHF, which is essential in the manufacturing process of solar-grade fluorine-based compounds. It is a key input for backsheet materials and other components used in PV modules.

The announcement led to a strong market response, with TANFAC Industries’ shares rising by around 3.35%. The surge reflects investor confidence in the company’s strategic pivot toward clean energy materials and its alignment with India’s renewable energy ambitions.

In addition to this initial capacity, the company plans to launch a second phase of the project within the next three months. This expansion will double the plant’s capacity to 10,000 tonnes per annum, further strengthening India’s position in the solar manufacturing supply chain.

The plant’s commissioning supports India’s broader goal of achieving self-reliance in renewable energy infrastructure. With growing demand for domestically sourced components, TANFAC’s new facility is expected to play a crucial role in the country’s transition to clean energy.
