Fahd bin Omairah, CEO of bin Omairah Holding Company, which is building the largest solar panel factory in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East confirmed that the company has a strategy that is based on several factors, to face the competition in general, in especially the Chinese one in cost matters.

Bin Amira said in an interview with Al Arabiya that facing Chinese competition based on alliances will be based on several axes, in particular cooperation with the Local Content Authority, to increase local production capacity, protect national industry, vertical integration in deepening local industrialization, and invest seriously in research and development, in collaboration with laboratories in Spain, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the Gulf.

Claimed that the local content of the company is currently around 30%, in light of a strategy that provides for the allocation of 80% of production to local demand for projects of the Saudi Ministry of Energy in renewable energy and 10% for specific projects of the company, in addition to an estimated 10% pre-order of production for requests from Bahrain, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.

He recalled that the Bin Omira Holding Company, a few days ago, started the first phase of operations at its “Masdar” plant to produce Solar panels in the industrial town of Tabuk Investments amounting to 700 million riyals.

He said the total plant area exceeds 27,000 square meters, with a production capacity of 1.2 gigawatts, and is the largest solar panel plant in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Bin Amira pointed out that the project aims to locate renewable energy industries in the Kingdom with the latest technologies and production lines to activate investments in solar energy, as well as enable integration with relevant government agencies, especially since it is adjacent to the NEOM and the Red Projects on the sea, launched as part of Vision 2030.
