US supports India-UK led Solar Green Grid initiative, PM Modi launched – EQ Mag Pro

London : The US has joined hands with the UK and India-led Green Grid Initiative on the Global Energy Grid, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the COP-26 Climate Change Summit in Glasgow.

Earlier last week, at a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Green Grid Initiative – ‘One Sun, One World, One Grid’ (GGI-OS OWOG), US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said that the US will return to climate talks and take new initiatives. Excited to join.

Jennifer Granholm said, ‘The amount of energy mankind uses in a year is equal to the energy that reaches the earth from the sun in one hour.’ “GGI-OSOWOG is focusing on two key elements of this puzzle,” he said. We at the US Department of Energy are delighted to partner with GGI-OSOWOG.

The International Solar Alliance headed by India and COP 26, chaired by the UK, launched the GGI-OSOWOG during the World Summit on Tuesday.

The GGI-OSOWOG Steering Committee, comprising the US, Australia and France, besides India and the UK, is determined to realize the dream of ‘One Sun, One World, One Grid’ under which 80 countries have ratified the ‘One Sun Declaration’. We have decided to make efforts together to build interconnected grids.

Leader-level events of the UN Climate Change Draft Convention Conference will take place in Glasgow on Monday and Tuesday. After this, representatives and officials of each country will meet to finalize the way forward to tackle climate change by the end of the conference on 12 November.

The Indian team has Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav and Chief Negotiator Richa Sharma. Yadav said, ‘To save the earth, we should return to the sun. Solar energy will give strength to the way the world is growing to achieve new heights economically and socially
