TrinaBESTannounced recently that it has been awarded to design and construct a hybrid energy storage system inNouakchott, Mauritania. This project is developed and operated by Damane Assurances Company. The projectwhich encompasses40kW solar system, 415kVA dieselgeneratorsystem and 320 kWh energy storage system, is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.When completed, it will be one of the largestMicrogrid energy storage projects in Mauritania.

The powerfrom solar is expected to generate approximately 84,096 kilowatthours of electricity which will save approximately USD 56,000 annually. Even under space constraints restricting the system to be larger, the designed system is capable of supporting 20% of the total power demand for the designated facility. The clean energy source will also offset approximately 2,095 tons of carbon dioxide over a 25-year period.

“We are excited to be selected to design and constructthis integrated energy solutions project in Mauritania,” said Frank Qi, General Manager of TrinaBEST. “More than half of the population in Mauritania lives without access to electricity, mostly due to the lack of grid access. Frequent voluntary blackouts are instated to conserve the country’s scarce resources. We’re honored to be selected to offer our solution to help resolve the electricityshortagessubjects in this region. Thisproject can generate reliable electricity 24 hours a daytargeting critical loads to help to solve the grid issues brought on to owner. This project demonstrates another step forward in TrinaBEST’s mission to deploy cost efficient and energy efficient solutions for a cleaner future.”
