ABB supports Kayseri OSB project with its solar solutions
ABB provides high-performance, modular inverters to Kayseri OSB (Organized Industrial Zone), the largest solar power plant in Turkey. The plant was constructed by Seferoglu Elektrik / Efektif Enerji as an EPC, using ABB PVS800 central inverter solution, the most efficient and cost-effective way to convert the direct current (DC) generated by solar modules into high-quality and CO2-free alternating current (AC) that can be fed into the power distribution network. The ABB inverter solution consists of PVS800 central inverters housed in concrete cabins to meet the local requirements and to protect the inverters from the harsh conditions on site.
The modular nature of ABBβs PVS800 central inverters, which consists of a single service panel and several parallel compartments, are fast and easy to commission and take into operation for the installers. These design features make servicing quick and easy too. Onsite there are 46 pieces of 1,000 kW PVS800 inverters, each containing three power module and LCL filter sections to ensure both redundancy in inverter operation and smooth output voltage conforming to national grid standards.
βWe have been the primary choice of many photovoltaic solar energy investors with our solar inverters and solar inverter package solutions since 2012, and have already delivered over 1000 MW of ABB solar inverters to PV projects in Turkeyβ said Haluk ΓZGΓN, Product Marketing manager for ABB Turkey. βKayseri OSB is a leading Turkish organization, which believes in solar technology and has completed its investments in this field.β
The Kayseri OSB is a unique industrial park in Turkey that generates a large proportion of its energy needs from local resources. Investment started with a 6 MW plant in 2014, just as the solar market began to grow in Turkey. This project was significant because it demonstrated for the first time that solar power plants in Turkey can use central inverters instead of string inverters, which means lower DC watt unit cost and fewer component connections. Now with the additional investments in 2016 the plantβs installed capacity is 51 MWp, the largest solar energy plant in Turkey. This project is a good example of how an industrial zone can be powered by renewables. The Kayseri OSB has the highest utilization of renewable energy among the industrialized zones of Turkey.
ABB is supporting the fast-developing solar energy sector in Turkey by providing true engineering products, optimized package systems and a reliable service network. Our huge product portfolio enables EPCs (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) to procure multiple items on a single contract.
