The electric vehicle (EV) charging system is based on hydrogen fuel cell technology.
Called AFC Energy H-Power, the EV hydrogen powered charger is a zero-emission self-contained, rapid charging system for electric vehicles. The system, which is based on hydrogen fuel cell technology, has been developed to help overcome EV charging challenges in areas with poor grid coverage.

The rapid EV charger can provide charging anywhere it is needed.
The AFC Energy H-Power can be scaled up to provide up to 100 charge points to a single site. This allows it to provide areas with low grid connectivity efficient charging services.

Lack of EV infrastructure has been a challenge in the EV transportation industry. A recent study commissioned by Scottish Power found that, in the UK, in order to meet electric vehicle deployment targets, nearly £100 billion ($131 billion) of new investment is needed to upgrade the network and deploy the necessary charging stations throughout the country.

For fleet operators, commercial vehicles and even public and private car park operators, large scale and fast charging EV systems isn’t only important, it’s a corporate necessity that currently has not been met and cannot be met without localized grid upgrades.

This is where AFC Energy’s EV hydrogen powered charger can be a real benefit as it has been developed to meet these requirements. The unit can operate at top efficiency to allow for rapid charging rates when and where it is needed and the system can be safely fueled using different hydrogen sources.

The EV hydrogen powered charger comes in three standard configurations.
The AFC Energy H-Power will be available in three standard configurations. As previously mentioned, the unit can be scaled up to deliver 100 charge points to a single site. AFC Energy says that the system can operate in conjunction with a grid or entirely off grid.

“Our system is independent of the grid and delivers EV charging in the most remote off-grid locations or in highly populated urban areas where supply is over-subscribed,” stated AFC Energy CEO Adam Bond, NS Energy reports.
