India-based Amplus Solar picked up the title of Company of the Year Asia – 2016 in the recent Business Worldwide Magazine (BWM) Awards. The company, which builds PV rooftop solar installations and supplies energy to companies in Asia, has enjoyed massive growth in its field since its equity investment boost from US-based Squared Capital last summer. Current customers include the giant US retailer Walmart, Amway India, Intel Technology, Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd, Whirlpool India, Hilton Hotels and motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha (for which the company provided India’s largest-ever single-location rooftop solar installation) among others.

It currently employs around 100 professionals in its offices in five cities in India and has a portfolio of more than 35,000 kWp of solar plants (both operational and under-construction) serving more than 30 clients in more than 200 locations. It also recently received the Indian Government’s National Excellence Award for Rooftop Project Development. Sanjeev Aggarwal, Managing Director & CEO, for Amplus Solar (which also operates under the brand name M+ Solar) said he was delighted to receive the BWM Award on behalf of the company’s employees overall.

He added: “It’s been quite a year for us, having enjoyed extraordinary growth in the rooftop solar field. We are uniquely placed within the fast growing commercial and industrial distributed generation segment and fully prepared to meet the ever-evolving energy needs of our customers. Strong financials helps, of course, as does an insight into the evolving technology and the regulatory and market developments.”

A spokesman for Business Worldwide Magazine said: “The judging panel were extremely impressed with Amplus Solar’s rapid growth in what is becoming an increasingly important and competitive market today. Taking into consideration the company’s recent client acquisitions and ambitious forecasting, it was clear from the start they would prove a major contender for this Award. Our congratulations are well-deserved.” The global PV market increased its capacity by 25 per cent in 2015 compared to the previous year and by the end of 2016 India is forecast to be the fourth largest provider of rooftop solar.
