Army installed first ever solar power plant in Cantonment area in Ambala

The Army has installed first ever Solar Power Plant in the Cantonment area near Vayu Sena School Ambala Cant. The Solar Power Plant will be inaugurated by Gen Alok Kler, GOC 2 Corps. The Solar power plant comprises of 3,120 solar panels and is spread over 5 acres.

Constructed at a cost of Rs 5.9 crore, the plant will generate 14,50,000 units of electricity every year saving the Army Rs 1.50 crore annually. An Army spokesman said with commissioning of the Solar Power Plant, the entire Army area where several units are located would start getting uninterrupted power supply.

He said besides offices, residential quarters for Army personnel as well as Army officer’s houses would also be covered under the new project. The offices with unit headquarters connected with hot line to ensure round the clock power supply from the Solar supply system.
