Former Union Minister and Senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya, MP has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New Renewable Energy R K Singh for sanctioning of funds to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh under DDUGJY and IPDS.

In a statement here on Wednesday, Mr Dattatreya said that he has been pursuing since long time the issues pertaining to the two telugu States with the Centre.

After long persuasion, he said, Mr Singh now informed me that he is complementing the UDAY interventions with other infrastructure schemes in the distribution Sector and providing financial assistance of Rs 941.13 crore under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) and Rs 747.99 crore under Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) to Andhra Pradesh by the Centre. Similarly, Financial assistance to the tune of Rs 4621.20 crore and Rs 743.70 crore has been provided to Telangana under DDUGJY and IPDS Schemes respectively for strengthening of distribution sector.

Since Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are part of Southern Regional Grid, these States are connected with the Inter-State Transmission system. Southern Regional Grid is connected to Eastern & Western Regional Grids through several inter-regional links. Presently, the Available Transfer Capability (ATC) for import of power to Southern Grid from rest of the Grid is of placing the order of 8,900 MW which shall be progressively enhanced to about 18,400 MW with progressive commissioning of under-construction inter-regional links by 2019-20. This would be sufficient to cater to the requirement of power of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, he added.

The BJP leader said this would help the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to provide 24 hours x 7 days electricity to the residents and industries of the States.

The government of India has provided all possible help to the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the field of providing power to the States, since its bifurcation, Mr Dattatreya said.

” I have also been informed by the Minister personally that the Centre is ready to extend all possible help to generate more and more solar power energy in the two telugu States so as to enable them to become self-reliant in the near future”, the former Union Minister said.
