DEME Concessions and OQ Alternative Energy earlier this month announced they will partner in a major green hydrogen project in Oman, the first phase of which is to install 250 MW to 500 MW of electrolyser capacity.

The idea is to contribute to the decarbonisation of industry in Oman and also export hydrogen.

The companies have reserved with The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) a site Duqm, along the Omani coast and the Arabian Sea, for a wind and solar complex.

OPAZ is supporting the HYPORT Duqm Green Hydrogen project in other ways too, such as coordinating with government-related entities for access to high voltage power lines, sea water, and the Duqm Port. The partners expect to export green hydrogen and derivatives like green ammonia to Europe.

Concessions is a subsidiary of the Belgian dredging company DEME
