DVC installs rooftop solar plant at its HQ

Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has installed a 53 kWp grid connected rooftop solar project at its Corporate Office in Kolkata as a maiden step towards fulfilment of the Government of India’s target for installation of 40 GW rooftop solar power plants by the year 2022, Bureaucracy Today has learnt.

The plant was inaugurated by AWK Langstieh, Chairman, DVC and Atul Sobti, CMD, BHEL on December 16, 2016. The solar rooftop project of DVC has 180 nos of multi-crystalline PV module of 300W laid across an area of 510 sq metre. This rooftop power plant with Net-metering facility will reduce the monthly energy bill of the corporate office where more than 1,000 employees work.

Solar sources of energy is clean and does not contribute to climate change. Renewable power projects are the future and with this project the power behemoth of Eastern India is aiming for big strides in solar energy generation which is one of the main avenues of renewable power.
