Enel X’s eMotorWerks is working to make its residential EVSEs more affordable with the introduction of a new subscription-based home charging plan called the JuicePlan. The JuicePlan lets homeowners sign up for a monthly subscription for their EV charging that rolls all of the up-front purchase and installation costs, maintenance, and operational expenses into a single payment.

The objective of the new plan is to simplify residential EV charging for owners that are new to electric vehicles. After signing up for the JuicePlan, eMotorWerks will provide its JuiceBox charger and installation from a certified electrician at the subscriber’s home. eMotorWerks believes that replacing what can be a steep up-front purchase price and installation with an easy to understand monthly bill will help more people switch over to an electric vehicle.

“There’s a continued need to democratize access to electrified mobility globally. One of the barriers we’ve found to greater adoption is the selection and installation of an EV charging system at home, where the vast majority of vehicle charging takes place today,” said Valery Miftakhov, eMotorWerks founder and CEO. “Our hope is that creating a subscription option for smart charging to existing EV owners or those that are considering an electric vehicle will accelerate EV adoption in the U.S.”

The JuicePlan includes the plug-in version of eMotorWerks’ JuiceBox with a NEMA 14-50 plug on the end, which set the bar for what a connected, intelligent home EV charger could be. The JuiceNet smart grid charging platform gives users the power to schedule charging times for when power is the cheapest. Using power when prices are lowest also typically correlates to when electricity demand is at its lowest and thus, at its cleanest, which is a nice perk.

JuicePlans start at an introductory price of $19 per month, while supplies last, and will initially be available in select markets in California, New York, New Jersey, and Maryland. You can get started on the JuicePlan site by entering your zip code to see if it is available in your area and get a quote in just a few clicks. If you’re interested, head over to the official JuicePlan site to learn more or to sign up.

As an unrelated side note, eMotorWerks is having a promotion right now where anyone who purchases a JuiceBox through May 31st can win VIP access to the New York Formula E race in Brooklyn, which is pretty cool.
