KOCHI: The exhibition organised by Kerala Renewable Energy Entrepreneurs and Promoters Association (KREEPA) at Bolgatty Event Centre concludes on Thursday. The expo, which has 53 stalls displaying renewable energy products mainly those using solar energy, also showcases various other innovative exhibits.

“Solar is a powerful source of energy and should be brought to the mainstream. We are working towards it and are getting a huge response,” said Georgekutty Kariyanapally, founder secretary of KREEPA. He said one of the key attraction of the exhibition is Solar Thattukada. Different food items can be prepared using solar energy, which is harnessed with the help of the solar panels affixed on the cart.

The expo has 70 plus exhibits, all of which are eco-friendly. Well-known companies have put up their stalls at the expo to popularise their product commercially. Solar cookers, heaters and panels too have been exhibited. The solar auto-rickshaw also grabbed the attention of the visitors. A live demonstration of many items including the solar-powered steamer and boat had been organised. Idly made using this steamer was distributed among the visitors. People were also taken for a ride in the solar boat.

Mohamed Shaffeeq, Publicity Committee member of KREEPA and CEO of Illumine, Energy Solution said a lot of people have expressed their interest in purchasing different products which have been exhibited here. A special discount will be given to those who place their orders at the exhibition centre.

Innovative renewable energy products made by students are also on display at the exhibition. During the event, 18 seminars on 24 subjects related to renewable energy were held.

The exhibition was conducted with strict adherence to the green protocol. The event was organised in collaboration with Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Suchitwa Mission and various other institutes working for environment conservation.
