Experts emphasize on adopting green living

AHMEDABAD: Addressing the issue of water conservation from various different perspectives in different arenas, experts present at the second edition of India Environment Festival 2018 (IEF18) emphasized on adopting green and sustainable living in various arenas including building and architecture, fashion, among others.

Experts in the inaugural session talked about the role of renewable energy and solar energy in controlling pollution levels. “Research and development in electric vehicles and PV solar technology can help boost eco-entrepreneurship and thus protect the environment,” said Mukesh Bhandari, chairman, Electrotherm India.

Gujarat Start-up Ecosystem Evangelist, Sunil Parekh, spoke on the scope for start-ups to undertake eco-entrepreneurship. Addressing the inaugural session on Saturday, said, “Gujarat has 33 incubators, which is the highest in India, with 70% of them located in academic institutions. So far 721 start-up ideas have been pitched in both government and private incubators, and start-ups have received more than Rs 17.5 crore worth of funding.”
Addressing a talk on demystifying green, one of the experts sensitized people about the importance of sustainable fashion and spoke of the grim side of the fashion and clothing industry as which accounts for some 20% of the global water pollution.

Yet another expert, Nayan Dave, also emphasized on the motto of ‘Reduce, Restrict, Repair and Recycle’ and said, “We should replace greed with green.”
