The ministry of heavy industries has also mandated Energy Efficiency Services to procure 300,000 electric three-wheelers for use by different government bodies and ministries.

NEW DELHI : Lobby group Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) has pitched for increasing the electric three-wheeler incentive to 15,000 per kWh under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (Fame).

This comes in the backdrop of the government recently modifying the second phase of the Fame scheme by increasing the incentive for electric two-wheelers to 15,000 per kWh. Also, the ministry of heavy industries and public enterprises allotted the demand aggregation of electric three-wheeler and bus components to state-run Ene-rgy Efficiency Services Ltd.

“Ficci appreciates the significant move taken by the government to increase the demand of electric vehicles in 2W, 3W and e-buses segment and would request that same demand incentive revision for electric 3-wheeler could be considered,” the lobby group said in a statement on Monday.

The Centre may also extend the Fame scheme created to reduce vehicular emissions and dependence on fossil fuel by two years till 31 March 2024 as reported by Mint earlier.

“These actions are well aligned with the vision of promoting green mobility for the masses, and the increased deployment of electric 2W, 3W and buses will not only bring down the pollution in our cities, but also reduce cost of transport for the citizens,” the Ficci statement added.
