Giza and Juwi Strike Gold With Solar Farm Contracts in Egypt

The companies will build a solar farm and battery energy storage system at the Sukari Gold Mine, reducing carbon emissions by more than 60,000 tonnes per year

Giza Systems and juwi have secured contracts from Centamin to build a 36MW solar farm and 7.5MW battery energy storage system at the Sukari Gold Mine in Egypt.

Giza Systems will be responsible for the plant’s installation and juwi will be tasked with designing and integrating the system into the current diesel power plant.

The project is forecast to reduce diesel fuel consumption by more than 22 million litres per year, lowering carbon emissions by more than 60,000 tonnes per year in the process.

It is scheduled to be commissioned in 2022.
